I'm so glad you're here.

Finding the right therapist is a deeply personal decision. A strong, trusting relationship between client and therapist is the foundation of meaningful growth and healing. That’s why I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation—so you can get a sense of who I am and how I approach this work, helping you make an informed choice about your care.

Why I Became a Therapist:

Before I became a therapist, I was a client first. My own journey with therapy began in college, and it felt like coming up for fresh air—I was seen, heard, and supported in ways that allowed me to explore and embrace my most authentic self. That experience ignited a passion for self-discovery, healing, and connection, ultimately shaping my path forward.

I know firsthand that healing requires commitment, vulnerability, and courage. My personal experiences—including navigating adverse childhood experiences, anxiety, and postpartum depression—have deepened my understanding of the therapeutic process. I bring both my professional expertise and my lived experiences into my work, creating a space where you can feel safe, understood, and empowered.

How I got here:

With a degree in psychology, I spent over a decade working in human services, supporting individuals and families in a variety of settings—from home-based therapeutic services and community support for at-risk youth to in-patient addiction counseling and foster family recruitment. These experiences reinforced what I already believed: that healing happens in connection.

During graduate school, I studied attachment theory while simultaneously building my own family, learning in real-time how early experiences shape who we become, what we believe, and how we relate to the world. This parallel journey strengthened my devotion to intergenerational healing—both in my own home and in the work I do with clients.

I earned my Master’s in Holistic Counseling, along with a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Study in Holistic Mental Health Counseling and a Certificate in Expressive and Creative Arts, from Salve Regina University, a CACREP-accredited program. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHC-Associate) in Rhode Island under the supervision of Kate Robinson, LICSW, RYT-200, CCTP.

My Approach:

It is the greatest honor of my life to support others in living more fully and freely as their truest selves. My work blends holistic counseling, deep presence, somatic healing, expressive arts, and energy medicine—bridging modern science with ancient wisdom in a trauma-informed way. My core values of integrity, connection, transparency, service, self-expression, creativity, and simplicity guide not only my practice but also how I live my life.

Outside the Therapy Room:

I live in rural Rhode Island with my husband, two daughters, two dogs, and three cats. My perfect day includes sleeping in, slow mornings with a hot cup of coffee, hiking in the woods, cooking a delicious meal to good music, and spending time with family and friends. Dance is where I feel most free and most myself. I also have an ever-growing book collection (and have read most of them!). I feel most fulfilled when I’m engaged in practices that connect me to myself, my loved ones, nature, and the world around me.

"Shaelyn is the person you need in your life to help you jump into your vision and show up in the world exactly how you were destined to be. Shaelyn has the refreshing ability to identify where our pain and our hurt lives and steals our power. She is so warm and nurturing it allows you to feel safe. Working with Shaelyn gave me permission to be vulnerable. I now have the courage to express my emotions and needs without feeling like a burden. I highly recommend giving yourself the gift of working with Shaelyn and fully becoming who you are meant to be."
